Brief 07 | World Record Day - Grid Development

Exploring how to ensure the campaign elements remain consistent I wanted to create a campaign logo for the event. This would allow the campaign to become differentiated from other Record Store Day celebrations and place a refined focus upon the client. I trailed a range of different compositions however found the middle design worked most appropriately. The Druk extra wide typeface is appropriate is its thick weight and wide structure feels analogue without appearing hand rendered creating a contemporary feel of vinyl music.

Implementing this campaign identity within a grid I paired the bold display type with a conservative display type, the thin weight and geometric structure of Karla, complements the overall aesthetic well. The footer is where the essential information is placed leaving room for the address, jumbo logos and Record Store Day logo. This is balanced appropriately and leaves a large available space in the centre of the design to fill with bold and eye catching imagery to engage the audience.
