Brief 05 | Photography Collab - Research (Alex)

Village bookshop in leeds is full of independent photography zines. Researching these will help to give inspiration on layouts, binding and type settings.

- minimal layout

- lot of use of negative space 

- full bleed imagery

- 1 image a spread

- staple bound

The zines at village are all very similar in the way of the layouts. Each zine is very minimal and only photography based.

Alex is wanting a fun and playful aesthetic throughout the zine, and therefore will incorporate illustration, pattern, colours and textures. 

However some pages will be blank and simple so researching these zines has given me something to go by.

All of the photography zines were staple bound, this is a quick process and does help to ensure the zine pages will lay flat when in use allowing more of the image to become exposed.
