Brief 04 | York Arts Market - Research 02

Researching products for art stalls

When carrying out the primary research part of the brief, a lot of the girls sell a range of things and are each different in the things that they sell and how there stalls come across. I don't want to make the stall overly busy with to many things going on, and would prefer to produce products I am confident in making but also would like to try new things too. However need to think about the target market of York, and what people would actually buy.

- Screen prints - a5 & a4
- Postcards
- Ceramics - bowls and pots (buy from friends)
- Tote bags
- Earrings (laser cut, pom poms)
- Bunting
- Zines (photography)

TAGET AUDIENCE IS TOURIST AND PEOPLE OF YORK

Its important to remember who the items would be aimed at and whether they would attract attention? Therefore need to consider the elements to include, if its mainly a tourist focused target market then they will be looking for memorabilia, including images such as of the minster and other various tourist attractions. Printing images of places like this are more likely to attract and eventually sell.
However the people of York won't be looking to for images of places around York and may be interested in prints and cards etc. Also crafts like jewellery bags and bunting may be suited more to this. By producing a range of items it insures I try to cover all intended audiences.
