Brief 10 | Research Brief - Development

Because poster 01 is slightly illustrative and uses bold colours this was a element which I had to incorporate within the second poster to ensure that they are consistent and run alongside each other. Because the first poster is now done, its important to use the same type and layout styles to insure they work and could be recognised week after week.

The second news story was one that happened mid April when Trump dropped a non nuclear bomb on Afghanistan, the bomb was described as mother of all bombs. The explosion was so powerful it was heard in neighbouring districts. Trump describe it as - 'another job well done.'

This illustration is by Chris Piascik he is a illustrator that does a range of fun and colourful work representing every day life. Some of his work is political such as this trump drawing. I thought its quite humours and presents him in a childish way, which will go along with the chosen quote which was in the article that I read.

By placing the illustration on the top of this explosion it represents the mess he has created and shows there is only him responsible. The image of the explosion is from the daily mail and is the real image of the bomb that was dropped over Afghanistan in April, this also makes the poster more reliable and accurate. The image is slightly pixilated, however it works well with the illustration and represents the collage effect which I was initially going for.
When getting feedback in the development of the poster it was said that - 'theres humour, and shows what trump is capable of as well as making him look childish and irresponsible.'

Using the type from poster 01 - it was initially cut from a magazine, I then photoshopped out the background of the type and changed the colours to see which was more suited to the poster. By using the same type it helps to ensure that the posters can work together and if their was a poster every week it begins to make it more recognisable to the audience.

I felt the yellow worked better than the purple / blue and tied the colours together with his hair, it looked more smart. However it was suggested a darker yellow to be used to make the type stand out and work better with the posters overall look.

Again like the other poster a small amount of text is used at the bottom of the poster, which taken from a headline and helps to sum up the image. The yellow type becomes more uniformed with the rest of the colour used on the poster and creates a more straight to the point look which was found in the research. The audience also get the chance to find out more if they wish on the designated Facebook and Instagram pages.

Feedback for this poster was positive -

"the humour used with the image of trump would grab my attention makes you look twice'
'I like the pixilated image of the explosion, it creates a more diy look and suits the look of the poster'
'it portrays trump in a silly way, its clear what the poster is informing me too, and he's done another reckless thing.'
